Birthday Month!

To kick off Everlee's birthday month we purchased a swing set for her to play with in the back yard. Club house, wave slide, picnic seats, rock wall, swings... this thing is the taj mahal of play sets.

I foolishly decided to save some money and assemble it myself.
The 1st page of the directions said that 2 competent adults could put it together in about 24 total hours.
Hmmmm... define "competent".

Work needed to be done before assembly could begin. I laid out some 4 x 4's for the play area.

Picked up 3 boxes from Sams Club. 170 lbs each... and I think somewhere around a billion pieces.
The first step in the directions was putting the rock wall together with 72 screws. That pretty much set the tone for the remainder of the day.

5 1/2 hours in and I have most of the fort done. Time to call it a night because my knees went from 38 years old to 138.

Next day, 1 1/2 hours for final assembly and this lowly little computer geek called it a done deal after 7 hours total build time. Still waiting on the 2000 lbs of rubber mulch to show up. But, we'll cross that bridge on Monday.

Extremely sore knees, popping ibuprofen all day, chugging hose water, and a couple episodes of bleeding was all worth it, with this gigantic payoff.....

Happy Birthday (month) Sweetheart!
Mommy and Daddy can't wait for the countless memories we'll have with you on this new piece of backyard fun.
